Because of these more than 250 donors…

…These heirloom varieties will sprout another day!
Heritage Seed Co. is an organic farm collective and an online community building project. Our mission is to bring back the lost foods of our country, and teach interested gardeners the value of fresh, local, heirloom produce. We also provide support and encouragement for more to plant gardens and seed save/trade. We are committed to preserving the past with the help of modern technology and social media.
Greg Boulos and Jen Montgomery explain their reasoning for—and the benefits of—asking for $10,000 to build a website for Heritage Seed Co.
We see the production of our seed packs with letterpress printer, Third Termite, as well as the gluing and assembling of the packs back at Blackberry Meadows Farm.
HertiageSeeds.org is currrently under development by the Heritage Seed Collective, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The site aims to achieve three goals, those being:
Building communities and connecting people through seeds will be one of the primary goals of HeritageSeeds.org. It's part of the Collective's mission to influence choices on what seeds are planted and thereby changing the course of plant production by planting with a conscience and a purpose.
The locator tool will help planters visually see where these heirloom varieties are growing. Planters can also interact and plot where they are planting these varieties to document where these species are successfully growing.
Becoming a hub of information and a general overall guide to seed saving and links to experts, HeritageSeeds.org hopes to connect other collectives with Heritage Seed Co.'s mission to help make saving heirloom seeds easier and inspiring others to do the same.
Despite reaching our goal and beyond with Kickstarter, the Heritage Seed Co.'s work is always an uphill battle to save seeds and promote the movement. It costs money to buy more seeds, print more seed packs and make people aware of these endangered seeds.
Your support and generosity is much appreciated.
